The former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mater Dei Hospital has been appointed to the role at the Water Services Corporation (WSC), the country’s water company said in a statement today.

Ivan Falzon, who had occupied the position at the public hospital for six years, since 2014, stepped in to succeed former-CEO Richard Bilocca, with effect from the 27th March. The latter has, since, moved on to head Wasterserv Ltd, after serving at the WSC for over two years.

“I am excited to be joining the WSC team,” Mr Falzon said in WSC’s statement. “I believe that water and data are the commodities of the next generation, and, as a country, we really should double up our focus on making the right investments to fit this reality. I promise my full commitment and loyalty to elevate the Corporation and its employees for the challenges that lie ahead,” he asserted.

While heading Mater Dei, Mr Falzon “was instrumental in a number of transformational projects,” WSC also said in their announcement. Among other projects, the former public hospital CEP had overseen a multi-million Euro investment in new equipment and had been involved in the opening of the Sir Anthony Mamo Oncology Centre.
