Malta’s Chamber of Engineers has extended its congratulations to Simon Fabri, who last month was appointed as the University of Malta’s Pro-Rector for Research and Knowledge Transfer, succeeding Saviour Zammit.

Prof Ing Fabri is a holder of the Maltese Engineering Warrant, a member of the Government Engineering Profession Board, and a part of the IEEE – Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

He has a distinguished academic background, with a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Malta, and a Master of Science, as well as a Doctorate from the University of Sheffield.

Prof Ing Fabri started his career as a Test and Product Engineer at ST Microelectronics, before joining the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Malta in January 1992.

He has occupied various roles throughout his time at the university, including as Head of the Department of Electrical Power and Control Engineering, and later on as Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.

His research interests see him involved in areas such as adaptive and intelligent control systems, neural networks, nonlinear and stochastic control.

In his new role, he will be one of five University of Malta Pro-Rectors tasked with assisting the Rector, Alfred J Vella, in the general day-to-day running of the establishment.
