Earth Garden Festival, which is normally held on the first weekend of June, has officially been postponed to 2022.
“With a heavy heart, we have to once again announce that this year’s Earth Garden edition will not be happening,” the organisers wrote in a social media message.
“This is indeed unfortunate, as we all hoped for a better year, but large scale events such as Earth Garden are not a realistic eventuality for 2021.
“However, we are working on something which is on a much smaller scale hoping that we will be allowed to do so in line with current realities. Earth Garden is here to stay, but your safety comes first.”
Malta’s largest alternative music festival usually sees around 30,000 revellers across its four-day event, with festival-goers able to purchase day tickets, weekend tickets or camping tickets.
Kicked off in 2007, Earth Garden quickly became a staple in Malta’s music and events landscape.
While hopes were pinned on a speedy vaccine roll out and COVID case numbers coming down, 2021 is proving to be a nightmare for the events sector across the globe.
In Malta, Glitch Festival (August), Lost and Found Festival (September) and Drumcode Festival (September) are still set to go on, however there is serious uncertainty over whether they will materialise as much depends on restrictions being lifted.
