Diane Abela, an experienced member of Malta’s business community, has bid farewell to the island, as she moves onto to a new role as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at an unspecified company in London.

Ms Abela will bring extensive experience to the role, including stints at Hili Ventures, PwC Malta, and most recently, Gaming Innovation Group (GiG).

At this most recent company, where she served for four years, first as Information Security Officer, then as Head of Information Security, she ended her time as Director of Information Security.

Reflecting on her time at GiG, she said: “I had the pleasure of meeting and collaborating with some amazing people, experts in their field, and also build some beautiful friendships.”

She also addressed bidding farewell to a place where she’s been “fortunate enough” to call her home for the better part of four years.

Indeed, Ms Abela was a valued employee of GiG, and the company awarded her its Leader of the Year award for 2020.

Looking to the future, she said: “I am now super excited to be moving on to a new CISO opportunity, which is taking me all the way to London!

“I will be working in a new industry, an industry that has been close to my heart since I first wrote my undergrad dissertation on health technology back in 2013! I look forward to making an impact, meeting new people and continuing my journey of professional growth in a country full of new opportunities.”

To her former colleagues, she said: “Thank you! I will think of you fondly.”
