Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has announced that Diane Abela, director of information security, was awarded ‘Leader of the Year’ for 2020.

The Malta-based iGaming company celebrated her achievements, saying her “impact over a relatively short period of time highlights the quality of [her] leadership skills and the positive influence they have on not only those around her but for the whole of GiG”.

Ms Abela started working at GiG in March 2018 as an information security officer.

After five months, she was appointed head of information security, before entering her current position in March 2020.

Ms Abela has a breadth of experience in IT security, working as security officer at Hili Ventures Limited, and as senior associate at PwC Malta, where she was responsible for “analysing and testing the internal IT general controls of companies”.

Congratulations poured in for Ms Abela’s achievement, with peers in Malta’s business world pleased to hear the news.

Jasenaite Laura, CEO at Cool ride-sharing, Kenneth Ciangura, information security manager at GO plc, and Matthew Sciberras, director of information security at Betsson Group were among those to congratulate her.
