In an anti-aging culture, it can seem quite scary when everything begins to change.
Fears feel like they’ve been amplified and oftentimes, ageing is associated with a season of loss: loss of independence, loss of identity, declining health, loneliness and an overall feat of worthlessness.
Denise Marston – the woman behind Dea Aesthetics & Wellness – understands this. She recognises the baggage that hides behind sagging skin and strives to create a safe space for women to feel like themselves again. As she shares, “Like many other women, I’ve come face-to-face with some dark times in life. I walked away from my partner, and that was no easy feat. Then came menopause.”
As Denise further explains, “Menopause shifts the way you look at yourself and your relationships. We get bloated, we gain weight, and our skin sags.” For these reasons and more, Denise urges women to stop overlooking their needs and to start prioritising themselves. “Especially if you have kids”, she adds, “menopause tends to be the period of time where loneliness creeps in as your children become more and more independent”. This is why it’s important to take care of yourself from the inside-out: to follow a solid skincare regimen that, when combined with other treatments, can help women regain their confidence. That’s Dea Aesthetics’ ultimate goal.
Offering a variety of treatments that are typically combined to attain optimum results, Denise works hand-in-hand with a med-aesthetic doctor to ensure that all layers of the skin are being treated: from the outer layer to the deepest layer of the skin and if necessary, fat.
These can range from threadlifting to contouring, micro-Botox, and even face lifts in order to tighten the skin and stimulate elasticity. For more efficient results, HiFu technologies can also be integrated to increase collagen production and tighten the skin for a smoother complexion.
However, Denise strongly urges her clients to avoid overdoing it: “There’s no need to aim for that ‘Kardashian look’ that everyone seems to be going for nowadays. We’d rather see our clients working on preserving their own beauty. We only care about enhancing their beauty, not altering it.” At the end of the day, every face is an individual, and when discussing her work, Denise speaks with great passion: “I love seeing a glow and a smile after a treatment. There’s something so precious in making someone feel better about themselves. That’s why it’s crucial for us to really listen to our clients: to understand what’s bothering them when they look in the mirror.”
Looking onwards and upwards, opening her own med-aesthetics clinic has inspired Denise to merge medicine with beauty to produce something more than just a clinical treatment. As she reveals, “I’m now eager to share that this has led me to work with a number of professionals to produce a skincare line that will be launching soon.” It will consist of products made up of regenerative ingredients that specifically target the skin changes that occur during all three stages of menopause. Similar to the procedure of a vampire facial, which incorporates PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy, these products combine plasma cells with an anti-ageing cream formula and local honey, making the skin look more radiant, tighter, and brighter while regenerating younger skin cells.
With an exciting journey ahead as Denise prepares to launch her skincare line, she attests that Dea Aesthetics & Wellness will keep making efforts to make women, no matter their age or fears, feel like themselves again.
