Ta' Kris is situated in a quaint alley just off Bisazza Street, Sliema, and was converted from an old bakery to a traditional bistro in 2001.
The old features of the bakery have been kept, together with the original Maltese coloured tiles, dark wooden furniture and warm-coloured walls, which provide a relaxed and casual atmosphere within the warm and rustic décor.
The menu includes a mix of traditional home-made cuisine such as rabbit, bragjoli (beef olives), bebbux (snails), octopus stew, balbuljata (corned beef hash), haruf il-forn, (baked lamb), majjal bil-patata fil-forn (baked local pork), fried gbejna (local cheeselet), laham tal-brodu (beef broth) to name a few.
There are also lots of Mediterranean dishes, ranging from a selection of pasta dishes, scrumptious salads and grilled steaks to fresh fish on a daily basis.
Apart from the a la carte menu, chef-patron Kris prepares a selection of daily specials which are usually recited at table.
Ta' Kris prides itself in serving and promoting local produce, from Maltese bread, to a selection of Maltese wines that suit everyone's budget, to local liquors, and traditional desserts such as imqaret (diamond-shaped pastry filled with dates), gelat Malti (Maltese ice-cream), cannoli and Maltese cassata.
Ta' Kris is all about offering an authentic experience to both travellers and locals alike, through its hearty, rustic and mouth-watering dishes that are prepared with much love and dedication.
