The Malta's Chamber of Engineers, following its Annual General Meeting held recently, approved the composition of the Executive Council for the term 2024-2025.
The Policy Affairs Secretary has been introduced as a role to assist the council in oversight of policy and legislative developments related to the engineering profession, facilitate consultation with members and manage policy contributions from the Chamber. Such a role, the Chamber explained, “is deemed as a new step into the evolution of the Chamber as a dynamic organisation.”
In addition, the Funding Secretary has ceased to exist, and the responsibilities of the role were transferred under the Treasurer’s responsibility.
The Executive Council is now composed of:
- Malcolm Zammit as President.
- David Scicluna Giusti as Vice President.
- Bonnie Attard as Secretary General.
- Johan Psaila as Treasurer.
- Gaetano Bugelli as Public Relations Officer.
- Michelle Cortis as International Affairs Secretary.
- Alex Tanti as Activities Secretary.
- Simon Abela as Membership Secretary.
- Patrick Spiteri Staines as Policy Affairs Secretary.
- Jael Deguara as Education and Training Secretary.
- Ryan Grech as Student Representative.
Meanwhile, the Council extended its thanks to outgoing members Robert Busuttil, Denise Bezzina and Claire Grima “following three years of dedicated voluntary effort on the Chamber’s Council" and recognises them "for their initiative and energy in favour of engineers and the profession.”
It also thanked its former Student Representative Stephen-Paul Boffa for his service to this profession and the engineering student community during his term.
