Carmen’s Bar, the family-run bar and restaurant in Għar Lapsi, has hinted at a return after being forced to close its doors due to storm damage.
In a post shared on social media, the establishment confirmed that it had temporarily ceased operations following the impact of Storm Harry, describing the experience as “truly heartbreaking”. The business stated: “Some of you know that we had to close our doors after the damage caused by Storm Harry. It was truly heartbreaking – but it’s not the end of our story.”
While discussions regarding its original premises remain ongoing, the team revealed that plans are underway for a new chapter elsewhere. “While we continue exploring all possibilities for our original home, we’ve also been working quietly behind the scenes on something new. And we’re excited to share that we’ll be reopening in a new location soon,” the post read.
Carmen’s Bar has long been a fixture in the Għar Lapsi area, known for serving locals and visitors in one of Malta’s most scenic coastal spots. The family behind the business emphasised the role of community support in navigating the recent setback, noting: “This community has always meant everything to us. Your messages, support, and patience have meant more than you know.”
Concluding the update, the owners signalled that further details will be announced in due course: “We can’t wait to welcome you back – bigger, stronger, and with the same heart you’ve always loved. Stay tuned… exciting updates are coming!”
No timeline for the reopening or the new location has yet been confirmed.
