Over the past decade, hospitality and tourism have become critical drivers of economic development, especially in regions heavily reliant on the sector. These industries have continued to expand and diversify, becoming some of the largest and fastest-growing economic sectors globally.
A 2023 survey by Statista puts the total number of jobs generated directly and indirectly in the travel and tourism sector in Malta at 55,700 with a €2.6 billion total contribution of these industries to the country’s GDP.
The employment figure is expected to reach 84,600 in 2034, highlighting the sector’s significant role in the nation’s economy and how bright the future is for students pursuing a career in the industry.
However, a career in this industry surpasses numbers. It’s more about creating memorable experiences for the global community, and this is where the Institute of Tourism Studies, Malta, comes in.
ITS has, for the past 38 years, consistently equipped individuals with the requisite knowledge and skills required to meet the robust growth of tourism and hospitality. ITS offers a wide range of hospitality and tourism courses, from foundation and certificate levels to diplomas, bachelor’s degrees, and master’s programmes.
With both full-time and part-time study formats, hybrid (in-person and online) integration, practical and theoretical lecture experiences, ITS ensures that students are given equal opportunity, and no one is left behind. Students are educated and trained to bring projects to fruition and complete complex problem-solving exercises, ensuring that these skills become a part of them long after they’ve graduated.
As the tourism industry continues to expand, the demand for qualified professionals is set to rise, making this the perfect time to begin education and training at the Institute of Tourism Studies, Malta.
