Bank of Valletta’s virtual assistant, Bovey, can now assist customers in Maltese, giving them the option to access everyday banking support in the language they feel most comfortable using.
In an official statement, the bank said the bilingual service is designed to make banking support more accessible and convenient, allowing customers to seek assistance at any time of the day.
Bovey can help with a range of everyday banking needs, including booking appointments, finding product information, submitting complaints, accessing guidance on fraud and scams, submitting travel notifications and resolving technical queries.
The virtual assistant handled more than 40,400 queries in 2025, followed by around 25,000 between January and August 2026 across its English- and Maltese-language services.
Daniel Caruana, Lead of the Customer Service Centre, said the introduction of Maltese gives customers greater choice when interacting with the virtual assistant.
“Adding Maltese is about giving customers a choice when communicating with our Virtual Assistant Bovey. They can now seek information and support in the language that feels most natural to them,” he explained.
While Bovey is designed to handle straightforward queries quickly, customers who require further assistance can be connected to an agent at the bank’s Customer Service Centre.
