Bank of Valletta has officially reopened its Żejtun branch following an extensive refurbishment, marking another step forward in the bank's ongoing programme to modernise its retail network across Malta and Gozo.

The refurbishment is part of BOV's wider Renovation Programme, which aims to create more welcoming, accessible and efficient banking environments for both customers and employees.

As part of the project, the bank carried out a pilot study to measure the branch's carbon footprint before and after the refurbishment. The assessment also considered the embodied carbon emissions generated during the construction works. The findings will be used to inform future refurbishment projects across the bank's network.

Initial projections indicate that the upgraded Żejtun branch will reduce its operational carbon footprint by around 29 tonnes of CO₂ annually.

Speaking during the reopening ceremony, BOV Chief Executive Officer Kenneth Farrugia said the Żejtun branch is the twelfth to be completed under the renovation programme.

"The branch in Żejtun now reflects the same modern layout, look and feel introduced across our other refurbished branches. Beyond creating a more welcoming and private environment for customers, the newly refurbished branch also supports our commitment to reducing our environmental impact through sustainable features," he said.

Chief Personal and Wealth Officer Simon Azzopardi said the investment demonstrates the bank's continued commitment to the communities it serves.

"The reopening of our Żejtun branch reflects our continued commitment to investing in the communities we serve and enhancing the banking experience for our customers. This refurbishment has transformed the branch into a more welcoming, accessible and efficient space, designed around customers' evolving needs and expectations," he said.

The refurbished branch was officially inaugurated by Kenneth Farrugia and Simon Azzopardi in the presence of Chief Operations Officer Ernest Agius and Żejtun Mayor Joan Agius.
