Seasoned hospitality professional Andre Borg has been appointed General Manager (GM) at Hilton Salwa Beach Resort & Villas, a five-star hotel in Abu Samra, Qatar.

The 361-key resort opened in February 2021 and is owned by Katara Hospitality. It features a mixture of guest rooms and suites, apartments, townhouses, and private beachfront villas. Hilton Salwa Beach Resort & Villas is one of the flagship properties of the Hilton brand. It is located along the pristine shores of the Arabian Gulf, on the southwestern tip of Qatar.

As GM, Mr Borg will lead the team in all aspects of hotel operations, ranging from marketing and hotel administration to guest services and satisfaction.

He is vastly experienced in the hospitality industry, having amassed over 25 years of international hotel experience, including 16 years working with Hilton.

He joined the Hilton family of hotels in 2008 as Food and Beverage Manager at Hilton Ras Al Khaimah Resort and Spa in the United Arab Emirates. Since then, he has occupied a number of senior roles, including Director of Operations at Athenee Palace Hilton in Bucharest, as well as GM at Hilton Labriz Resort and Spa in Seychelles, among others. During his tenure at the Seychelles hotel, Hilton expanded its footprint from three properties to six.

Mr Borg expressed his excitement about joining the team at Hilton Salwa Beach Resort & Villas, stating: “I am honoured to have the opportunity to lead such an iconic property and work with a talented team dedicated to delivering unforgettable experiences for our guests.”

He remarked that he is looking forward to working on building on the resort’s “legacy of excellence” and creating “memorable moments” for its guests.

Commenting on the appointment, Etienne-Charles Gailliez, Hilton’s Country GM for Qatar, welcomed Mr Borg to the hotel, a resort which is particularly close to his heart.
