This week marks the end of an era for Abigail Agius Mamo as CEO of the Malta Chamber of SMEs.

On Thursday (today), Ms Agius Mamo announced that while this week will be the last at the Chamber, as from next week she will be stepping into the role of Business Management Coach at KastellVP.

“As promised, I’m not straying too far,” she wrote on LinkedIn.

Ms Agius Mamo announced that she would be stepping down from her CEO role in July after being part of the SME Chamber for the past 17 years and in the position of CEO for the last 10 years.

During her tenure, she, along with the council, spearheaded major changes nationwide and significantly enhanced the chamber’s presence and impact.

She shared that during her time at the SME Chamber she had the privilege to pursue her passion for supporting businesses. “This experience has guided me towards the next natural step in my career,” she continued.

In comments given to WhosWho.mt, Ms Agius Mamo says that as a woman in a leadership position, several of her female colleagues encouraged her not to disappear from the field.

“At the SME Chamber, I had the privilege of assisting businesses through advocacy and external advice. However, I often encountered companies struggling internally,” she reflects.

Ms Agius Mamo remarks that many business owners were overwhelmed, unable to find the right talent, overworked, and lacking the time to focus on their company’s vision.

Some businesses, she recalls, had outgrown their initial structure and needed better frameworks to become more efficient and effective.

As she looks forward to the new chapter, she also expressed her eagerness to continue helping SMEs thrive and making a more direct impact by offering hands-on support.

KastellVP was established 20 years ago with the aim of coaching SME businesses on how to grow their operations in a healthy and sustainable manner. In 2017, the company joined an international peer-group of like-minded entrepreneurs.
