London was the most popular destination, with 118 jets flying from Malta to the British capital. It was followed by Nice with 83 jets, Rome with 57, Paris and Milan with 55 jets each, and then Geneva (53), Athens (43), Naples (41), Málaga (38), and Catania (35).
In total, jets from Malta flew to almost 300 destinations
Italy was the biggest market, with 347 jets – one in five –flying there. France followed with 222, Spain with 171 and the United Kingdom with 151.
Sicily received 72 jets from Malta, mainly to Catania and Palermo.
Outside Europe, Istanbul, Dubai and Tripoli were among the most frequent destinations and there were a handful of flights to faraway places such as India, Ethiopia, Brazil and the United States.
June was the busiest month, with 215 departures, ahead of July with 211. Malta also had a strong autumn: October, with 204 departures, was almost as busy as midsummer, while August was quieter with 153.
February was the quietest month.
Almost a quarter of the departures, 472, were made by aircraft on the Maltese 9H register, a popular register for business jets in Europe.
"Malta is closely tied to London, the Riviera and Italy by private jet, and autumn is almost as busy as summer. We have made the map public so that anyone can see where the jets from Malta go," said Erik Nilsson, press officer at Air Novi.
