The team at Mdina’s Bacchus Restaurant was, on Monday, mourning the loss of Owner and Managing Director Mario Vella Gatt, who passed on Sunday.

The long-serving Mr Gatt had run the restaurant since its doors first opened on a summer’s day in August of 1976.

Taking to social media to mark his passing “with a heavy heart”, the restaurant’s team reflected that he “dedicated” 45 years of his life to the venue, which “serves great food and forges unforgettable memories to thousands of guests”.

The restaurant was closed to mark his achievements on Monday, and will likewise be shut on Thursday.

“You finally reached the five stars and your memories will live on, and rest assured that we will use your wisdom and continue your legacy.

“Till we meet again, see you later boss”, the Bacchus team said.

Mass will be held on Thursday 15th July, at the Divine Mercy Sanctuary, San Pawl tat-Targa at 14:00pm.
