On Sunday, Yakof Agius attended the Grand Opening Ceremony of the World Business Angels Investment Forum (WBAF) as an official delegate of Malta.

Mr Agius, founder and CEO of CIVIQUO, was appointed as one of Malta's delegates to the investment forum in October.

Sunday’s Grand Assembly is part of the week-long World Congress of Angel Investors.

On Monday, the Congress will launch a “Grand Opening Ceremony”, following which, for the rest of the week, continental summit meetings will be held, with the European summit set to be held on Tuesday.

Later in the week, a networking forum, and a global investment drive, which offers a platform for companies in the process of fundraising will take place.

Naturally, given the situation with COVID, the event will be held digitally. However, the WBAF has launched an interactive virtual event that goes above and beyond, with digital representations of a congress, complete with milling crowds and auditoriums.

The WBAF is an affiliated partner of the G20 – Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion organisation, which aims to ease access to finance for businesses from start up to scale up to exit.

Amongst those joining Mr Agius at the event will be WBAF chairman Baybars Altuntas, Trans Capital founder and chairman, Fadi Saab, and chief strategist at Todoroki Afrika, Eno Praise.
