In the current technology landscape, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) play a crucial role becoming an integral part of today’s technologically advanced modern world. Incorporating APIs in the day-to-day operations paves the way for trusted collaborations and the betterment of clients’ experience. It also serves as means of empowerment for organisations and entities to innovate while adapting and adopting new technological services. Most importantly, APIs allow controlled sharing of information with external partners, customers, and other applications resulting in a better user experience by enabling the integration of various services and functionalities.
“As the Malta Business Registry, we are committed to building strong bridges with the private sector and Corporate Service Providers,” says a spokesperson from the Government agency.
“We are aware that as time goes by, the need for data sharing is increasing ever more and with it, the demand for further digitalised services. Following the launch of the MBR’s new online platform, we can now look at identifying means of enhancing collaboration with subject persons, aiming to better their work and services to the business community and the public.”
The MBR acts as a repository of essential information about businesses operating in Malta and plays a pivotal role in this ecosystem. To further enhance its impact on the business world, the Malta Business Registry is exploring the possibility of offering an API to stakeholders.
Hence, the MBR is extending its invitation to Corporate Service Providers to discuss means of collaboration through APIs.
Through a half day workshop, the MBR aims to gain feedback from subject persons, understand better what is required and seek to empower the business community in facilitating real-time access. This is crucial for decision making processes, reducing delays and promoting agility in a rapidly changing business environment. It seeks to enhance interoperability allowing for businesses to seamlessly interact with the MBR through machine-to-machine integrations. Furthermore, it seeks to empower innovation and development since API connections open the door to a wide range of innovative applications and services where data can be leveraged. Ultimately, it seeks to support regulatory compliance which empowers stakeholders to monitor and enforce compliance more effectively, helps to prevent fraudulent activities and most importantly, boosts transparency and trust.
MBR Chief Operations Officer and Deputy Registrar Annalise Zammit remarked that putting into consideration the great strides the MBR achieved in terms of digitalisation, the sharing of data is the next step to be explored. This shall pave the way for subject persons to take an in-depth look into their IT infrastructure whilst ensuring that its use is in good intent.
“In an era where data is a cornerstone of economic progress, the Malta Business Registry is recognising the transformative potential of API connections. By embracing this technology, the Registry aims to contribute to a more connected, efficient, and transparent business environment.
“The benefits extend beyond the immediate stakeholders, fostering innovation, supporting regulatory compliance, and ultimately driving economic development. As we move forward into a more digitally driven future, the integration of such APIs is not just a technological upgrade but a strategic investment in the prosperity of Malta’s economy. We are encouraging an in-depth discussion, thus we advise that only up to three technical individuals (IT/Legal/Accountancy/company administrators) from your company to attend this workshop. Combining the legal technological element in this discussion is crucial to establish the pediment for a way forward,” Mr Zammit remarked.
The MBR’s Workshop: ‘Further collaboration with Corporate Service Providers – Let’s discuss APIs’ will be held on 8th February at The Link Hall, Malta Business Registry in Zejtun.
