An entrepreneur with interests in expos, events, tourism, entertainment and market research, James Cassar is the Group Managing Director of 242.group.

The group incorporates several leading companies in different industries, mainly MYeventplanner, a leading corporate event planning company; Merchandise Malta, one of Malta's largest branded merchandise and printing suppliers; and TurnkeyExpos, a global expos company that services both expo organisers and end clients around the world. All companies have offices in Malta, Cyprus, Spain and Dubai and have satellite presence on each continent.

“I get my hands dirty in all the different aspects of the business and I learn as I lead in the best way I can,” he says.

Mr Cassar is a hands-on event producer with a personal history of planning large scale events, ranging from expos to content-oriented conferences, festivals, international networking events and corporate trips. He has organised and produced large-scale events in various countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Spain, the Netherlands, Serbia, Cyprus, Canada, Sardegna, Italy, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, the Philippines and Singapore.

He holds a PhD with a focus on international events and event destination marketing from Bournemouth University, UK  and serve as a consultant to several international clients as well as a visiting lecturer at the University of Malta.

“I am also the author and co-author of several academic papers, event reports and conference presentations and proceedings presented across the globe. My main areas of study are international event tourism, destination management and exposure to niche markets and event attendance motivators,” Mr Cassar explains.
