Edward James Houlton is the General Manager of the Shipping division at S. Mifsud & Sons Ltd., one of Malta’s leading shipping agencies.

"Since starting out in the maritime industry in 2005, I’ve built my career from the ground up," he explains, "gaining hands-on experience and growing into leadership roles."

Today, Mr Houlton is responsible for overseeing our agency operations and driving strategic growth. His focus is on delivering operational excellence, building strong client relationships, and ensuring the company stays ahead in a competitive and evolving industry.

"I’m passionate about maritime logistics and have developed deep expertise in shipping agency services, operations management, and business development," he says. 

It is on this basis that SMS has developed from a shipping agency to a large group of companies employing over 500 persons active in travel, tourism, shipping, insurance, logistics, ship registration and financial services, as well as general trading.

SMS operates both locally and internationally in over 10 different countries.
