Malta’s aviation and business community is mourning the passing of Dominic R. Attard, a seasoned leader whose career spanned more than four decades in the airline and aviation industry.

He began his career at Air Malta in 1978 as Manager System Sales and went on to serve in various senior roles during his 18-year tenure. These included Head of Central European Region, General Manager, Executive Assistant to the Chairman, and Group Head Cargo Systems.

In 1999, he was appointed Managing Director and CEO of Italian carrier AZZURRAair SpA, where he remained for over seven years. He later returned to Air Malta as Chief Officer for Strategic Planning before taking the helm at World Aviation Group in 2006.

Under his leadership, the Group grew from a General Sales Agency representing international airlines into a diversified organisation. Notably, he spearheaded the establishment of Centrecom Ltd in 2006, which has since become one of Malta’s largest multilingual contact centres. A year later, he oversaw the creation of BPO Services Ltd, further expanding the Group’s reach by providing back-office and revenue accounting services for the airline industry.

Paying tribute, Centrecom wrote on social media: “We are forever grateful for Dominic’s leadership, wisdom, and unwavering commitment. His impact will continue to guide us, and his memory will always be a part of our story.”

Beyond his professional achievements, Mr Attard will be remembered as a leader who invested deeply in people and built lasting connections across the industry.
