Elaine Bugeja on Sunday announced that she has left her role as Business Development and Marketing Manager at United Group of Companies in order to shift her full focus to the world of drama and theatre.

She has now joined performing arts company Teatru Malta as Senior Production Manager.

“The time has come. Time to follow my dream of putting all my energy in the theatre world, a world I’ve loved since I was a kid and have been working on and off in the last 10 years,” she said.

As a result, her experience at United Group has come to an end after more than three years, having first joined its retail wing as Marketing Manager in 2020. She was then named Business Development and Marketing Manager for the whole group just over a year later.

“It’s been a long time coming yes, and yet it is not easy parting from a company driven by great people who have been mentoring me, supporting me, believing in me and providing me with opportunities for growth in the last three years,” Ms Bugeja added.

“Let’s be honest, joining the company to do marketing for retail when the shops have just been forced to close due to COVID-19 lockdown, and then joining the company remotely just explains how unusually extraordinary this experience has been for me,” she continued. Despite this, she noted that she continued “evolving” during that time and sought to drive the “growth of a brilliant brand such as MAC Cosmetics”, culminating in a “wonderful ride” that she is “extremely grateful for”.

She proceeded to thank United Group COO Simon Gatt Baldacchino and CEO Edmund Gatt Baldacchino for granting her the opportunity to learn from them and described them as “the best bosses” she could have asked for. Ms Bugeja also expressed gratitude to the Board of Directors for their endorsement, the partners in the fashion and artistic sectors who she collaborated with, the MAC team in Milan who were “inspirational and supportive”, the network of suppliers, and also to her past and present colleagues at the group who “made this experience so special”.

“Now Teatru Malta, I’m finally ready for you,” she concluded.

Ms Bugeja describes herself as a marketer that is “well-versed in all aspects” including strategic direction, planning, reporting and analytics, management of digital and offline platforms including websites, event management and creative production.
