Bank of Valletta has announced the appointment of three new senior managers, with Simon Azzopardi, Peter Halsor and Vanessa Borg joining the team of chief officers.
Mr Azzopardi has been appointed as Chief Wealth Management Officer, while Mr Halsor has been appointed to Chief Marketing and Customer Intelligence Officer. Dr Borg is the new Chief People and Change Officer.
BOV announced the appointments in a release posted to the Malta Stock Exchange.
New Chief Wealth Management Officer Mr Azzopardi holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) issued by the University of Malta and a Master of Science from the University of Reading.
He also has an Advanced Diploma in Insurance.
Mr Azzopardi enjoys considerable experience in the area of investment services since he was responsible for setting up and running the Private Banking Division of BOV.
Throughout his career at BOV, Simon has occupied various executive positions such as Executive Head Risk Management and Executive Head International Corporate Centre.
The Bank said that it is in receipt of the necessary regulatory approval regarding Mr Azzopardi’s appointment.
Mr Halsor, the new Chief Marketing and Customer Intelligence Officer, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from the University of Minnesota.
Prior to joining Bank of Valletta, Mr Halsor held the position of Chief Customer Experience Officer at Riyad Bank and has also led transformation initiatives at Barclaycard and LloydsTSB.
He enjoys 20 years' experience leading marketing teams in designing and implementing digital products, services and campaign that underpin business strategy, enhance customer experience and drive profitability.
He was also actively involved in a number of business transformation and change programmes, collaborating with C-suite executives in translating business strategy into compelling customer strategies.
The appointment of Mr Halsor is subject to regulatory approval.
Prior to joining BOV, new Chief People Change Officer Dr Borg occupied the position of Director of Strategy Advisory at KPMG, a position she had occupied since 2018.
Over the years, Dr Borg has held a number of senior positions, including Chief Executive Officer with Argus Insurance and Executive Director at Consultancy and Training Acumen Centre.
She has also held senior corporate positions, from human resources to operations, within the hospitality industry.
Dr Borg holds a Doctorate in Business Administration, a Master’s in Philosophy, and a Master’s in Business Administration (all from the Maastricht School of Management), and a Bachelor of Commerce (University of Malta).
The appointment of Dr Borg is subject to regulatory approval.
The Bank stated that there are no matters concerning Mr Azzopardi, Mr Halsor and Dr Borg that warrant any disclosure in terms of the Listing Rules of the Malta Stock Exchange
