The Surrey, a Corinthia Hotel, has opened today on 76th Street on the Upper East Side, New York.

The 16-storey building is the inaugural property in North America for Corinthia Hotels.

Owned by Reuben Brothers, global leaders in real estate development and private equity, and with interiors by Martin Brudnizki of London and New-York based design team MBDS, the hotel has been transformed to include 70 guest rooms, 30 suites, and 14 private residences.

The hotel features public spaces and guest rooms designed to blend past influences with contemporary sophistication. It boasts handcrafted Murano chandeliers and bespoke furniture pieces.

Its suites are inspired by the bridges of Central Park. These include the Bethesda Grandeur Suite, Pink Bank Bridge Suite, Greywacke Heritage Suite, and The Surrey Suite with design elements that pay homage to their respective namesakes.

The Surrey is the first New York outpost of the restaurant Casa Tua, founded by Miky and Leticia Herrera-Grendene.

Furthermore, it also houses The Surrey Spa featuring luxury lifestyle brand Sisley Paris.

“This marks a significant milestone for the Corinthia Group, as we take our first step into the United States. It paves the way for future ventures across our operating company and brand, as well as our investment and development division” said Simon Naudi, Group CEO of International Hotel Investments (IHI).

CEO of Corinthia Hotels Simon Casson comments that the company sees the hotel as a love letter to New York and “a beacon of the city’s creative spirit.”

“The surrey is in many ways a new flagship, representative of the warm familial spirit of Cornithia that makes all guests feel perfectly at home,” he continued.

Corinthia Hotels was founded by the Pisani Family and is a management company owned by International Hotel Investments plc (IHI), a hotel and real estate developer and operator. From the original Corinthia Palace in Malta, over the years it has expanded in London, Lisbon and Budapest and is developing properties in Rome, Brussels, Bucharest, Doha and Riyadh, alongside resorts in the Maldives and beyond.
