This year, The Plaza, is celebrating the spirit of Christmas through a magical journey to the North Pole.

For most of our childhood, we believed in him wholeheartedly. Then one day it seems as if the veil of innocence is lifted, and we start understanding the truth without anyone having to tell us. We all know that someday our kids will be looking for the same answer to this question, and we have given it careful thought so we know just what to say.

In collaboration with Rocksteady Digital and Vitonis Media, The Plaza found the balance on that tightrope stretched between the towers of telling the truth and creating a magical childhood experience.

This Christmas write a letter to Santa! The Plaza has established a link to the North Pole Mail Room!

From the Plaza Shopping Centre to a magical after-dark adventure, in the six-scene motion picture "A letter from James" on the eve of Christmas Day, The Plaza invites people to witness the journey of a young boy called James and his quest in seeking out the truth.

James holds on to a letter addressed “To Father Christmas” as he travels through a portal of his imagination filled with feelings and excitement. Supported by The Magical Illuminated Trail at the enchanting Verdala Palace in Buskett Gardens, the company showcases James wondering the mesmerising Palace gardens washed with colourful decorations and thousands of twinkling fairy lights – “the North Pole Mail Room”. An incredible showstopper, the Elf, guides James to Santa’s 400-year-old workshop where he meets with the big man himself, Santa Claus.

Truth be told, Christmas will always be real, to those who believe in it

Santa and the spirit of Christmas do indeed exist in so many ways, though he may not come down the chimney as we are traditionally led to believe as youngsters.

There is no single Santa. Santa is lots and lots of people who keep the spirit of Christmas alive. He lives in our hearts – not at the North Pole. Santa is the magic and love and spirit of giving to others. What he does, is teach children to believe in something they can’t see or touch.

Throughout their lives, our children will need this capacity to believe in themselves, their family, their friends and God. They will need to be able to believe in things they can’t measure or hold in their hands.

Now let your children know the secret of how he gets down all those chimneys on Christmas Eve: he has help from all of the people whose hearts he has filled with joy. With full hearts, The Plaza takes turns helping Santa do a job that would otherwise be impossible. Santa is love and magic and hope and happiness. The Plaza Shopping Centre is on his team, and now you are too.
