The new online shopping portal of The Convenience Shop, launched on the 11th May, is offering an express delivery service, promising to deliver essential goods within a maximum of two hours.
“It’s an express delivery,” said Claudia Calleja, the brand’s Marketing and Event Coordinator. “Each order which comes in will go to the nearest outlet to sort. We’ll call customers and give them a personal one-to-one service on the phone, just in case they want to change their order, or add something which is in store but not on the website.”
The Convenience Shop has more than 60 outlets, peppered across the Maltese islands, with long opening hours – even on Sundays and Public Holidays - set to serve any eventuality.
“If customers, for instance, don’t have milk on a Sunday, now, they can order it and we’ll deliver it quickly to their door,” Ms Calleja explained. There is no minimum spend, she went on, but said there is a fixed delivery charge of €3.50, excluding VAT, which applies to the service, however large or small the purchase.
Moreover, to make things easier, the portal has also grouped essential items under Daily Needs to make things better accessible.
While the online store has allowed the chain to adapt to the current COVID-19 environment, Ms Calleja, said it was always in the pipeline, though the project was upped a gear with the onset of the pandemic. “Our work hasn’t decreased. We’ve had to adapt our stores, and even to provide more convenience to our customers,” she said.
And, the site is also here to stay, the store’s Marketing and Event Coordinator underlined, even when we all emerge from the crisis and the pandemic is over.
