The next episode of The Boardroom, which will be airing live on 29th November (Monday) at 11am on WhosWho.mt’s Facebook page, will feature guests from the Malta Communications Authority.

They will be explaining the Authority’s role in developing and implementing regulatory instruments that help foster technological inclusion and support the growing digital economy.

Presented by business writer Jo Caruana, Monday’s session will see Joseph Seychell, Senior Manager, Information Management and Technologies, Robert Mifsud, Senior Management Team, External Relations, and Bernard Agius, Manager, eCommerce Policy and Initiatives, talk about the MCA’s crucial work.

They will be touching on both past milestones and future targets, following up on the successful conference held this week, entitled Unlocking Digital Value for Society, which saw the European Commission as well as other international stakeholders complimenting the MCA’s work.

Mr Seychell joined the MCA back in 2016 after more than 15 years working in the IT sector, having served customers both in Malta and across Europe.

He manages the MCA’s digital services regulatory programme covering various digital aspects including eCommerce, Trust Services and Webs Accessibility.

On the eCommerce front, he is currently working on the drafting of the MCA strategic vision for the coming years. He is also involved in the Authority’s conformity assessment process for eIDAS trust service providers and he drives forward the Authority’s web accessibility monitoring and enforcement process.

Mr Seychell holds various industry IT certifications from major vendors and holds a BSc in Information Systems. He is currently reading for a Master’s degree in Business Management.

Mr Mifsud has formed part of the MCA’s senior management team since 2015, leading the External Relations function of the Authority. His role entails coordination of EU and international activity, including participation in various fora assuming formal relations on behalf of the Authority with external entities.

He also leads the Authority’s end-user function that enforces consumer protection rules in the electronic communications and postal sector, and coordinates corporate communications and PR activity aimed at supporting the achievement of the Authority’s goals across all its operational disciplines.

Prior to joining the MCA, Mr Mifsud worked for fifteen years in public sector management consultancy, delivering strategic advice to government and project managing a large number of initiatives including operational and organisational reviews and audits; drafting of national strategies; auditing EU projects; and leading change management programmes such as euro changeover preparations in the public administration.

Mr Agius is responsible for eCommerce policy and initiatives at MCA. He has over 20 years management experience in both the public and private sectors. He holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from Durham Business School specialising in ICT adoption and diffusion.

Mr Seychell, Mr Mifsud and Mr Agius will explain the MCA’s role both domestically and internationally, the evolution of regulation, and the Authority’s plans to advance the take-up of eCommerce in Malta.
