Taking place this Thursday 12th May live at 2pm on WhosWho.mt’s Facebook page, the Boardroom invites two of the four co-founders behind 9H Capital, Malta’s biggest digital alliance, to shed light on the major development for the local digital services market.

In April 2022, Zak and Benji Borg, co-founders of ANCHOVY. plc and James Abela and Matthew Sammut, co-founders of NIU Ltd announced the formation of a comprehensive technology and digital services group, known as 9H Capital Ltd, with the goal of creating the largest digital services offering in Malta and paving the way for an international growth programme in the rapidly growing sector.

9H Capital will lead, own and manage both companies’ local market leadership position and technology talent base as an integrated digital offering providing each client-base with end-to-end digital services that will support them in their digital transformation journey.

Hosted by business writer and presenter Jo Caruana, this week’s episode of The Boardroom will see the co-Founders answer questions on the new corporate structure, the motives behind the move, challenges behind the merger and what, exactly, it is offering to the market.

Benji Borg - Co-Founder & Executive Director of 9H Capital

He co-founded ANCHOVY nine years ago with his brother Zak. His role at the agency has always been on leading the team forward and innovating to produce the best experiences and campaigns while buildig a great team of specialists. 

Since the merger and the formation of 9H, his role has remained the same, however he now has the luxury of having many more specialists, allowing him to deliver better products and experiences. 

“Fundamentally my job is to empower our teams to deliver the best work possible and continue to drive innovation and increased bottom line.”

Benji studied Film 3d/2d Character Animation and Industrial Design. He is an athlete (sailing) since the age of 13, winning two small nation gold medals & fifth place in the European Championships. He is also a husband and father.

Matthew Sammut - Co-Founder & Executive Director of 9H Capital

Matthew co-founded NIU, an award-winning web application development firm based in the Maltese islands specialising in building high-speed, SEO optimised web applications, web maintenance and cloud hosting, 15 years ago with his business partner James. His role at NIU was divided between Business and Account Management. 

Since the merger and formation of 9H Capital, Matthew’s role is more focused on Business Development in Malta, since Benji took over a big chunk of the Account Management work. This allows Matthew to focus on building relationships and making sure that the group’s clients are happy with the services provided.

He is also a co-founder of one of Malta's leading ICT academies, ICE Malta, representing educational partners Adobe, Autodesk, Linux, Microsoft, Cisco, AWS, The Digital Marketing Institute among other prestigious brands (icemalta.com)
