Parliamentary Secretary for Reforms and Equality, Rebecca Buttigieg, has been recognised as one of this year’s European Young Leaders (EYL40) by Friends of Europe, a Brussels-based think-tank dedicated to shaping Europe’s future through innovative and multistakeholder initiatives.

The EYL40 programme is designed to promote a strong European identity by engaging the continent’s most promising talents in collaborative projects aimed at driving meaningful change. It brings together influential figures from diverse sectors, including politics, business, civil society, and academia, to foster dialogue and craft solutions to Europe’s most pressing challenges.

Expressing her gratitude for the recognition, Ms Buttigieg shared her thoughts on social media: "I am honoured to be recognised as one of Europe’s young leaders for my work in our country. This prestigious recognition is a significant moment for me, inspiring me with great passion to continue working for the common good of our country."

Friends of Europe specifically highlighted Ms Buttigieg’s contributions in spearheading Government efforts to tackle inequality and promote gender rights.

Her initiatives include:
