Maypole Group announced the opening of its first burger joint, named F’IDI.

The burger joint is located where Maypole’s journey to being one of Malta’s most prominent bakeries began, in Qormi.

Maypole is a family-run group of companies operating an industrial bakery, specialising in straight and long fermented dough breads, sweet and savoury products and outside catering products sold exclusively in its chain of branded confectionery shops.

Originally, the group started off as a small traditional bakery in Qormi with founders Carmel Debono, commonly known as Nenu, and his wife Angela, both bakers by profession.

The group explained that F’IDI offers “genuine food, prepared especially to the highest Maypole standards.” It stated that the burger joint is not aimed solely for the younger crowds but for everyone, including the older generation.

The group remarked on LinkedIn that its ongoing strategy is for growth through qualitative expansion.

“Besides reaching out to communities with more of our distinctive ‘round-the-corner’ retail outlets, we have also embarked on a diversification of our activities in the catering sector, flanking Nenu the Artisan Baker with other genres of restaurants and cafeterias,” the group said.
