Malta International Airport (MIA) recorded strong traffic figures for June, with a total of 923,374 passengers passing through its gates during the month.

The highest daily traffic was registered on Thursday, 26th June, when 35,571 passengers travelled on 218 flights to and from Malta.

Aircraft movements during June rose by 4.5 per cent compared to the same month last year, while the seat load factor – a measure of how efficiently available seating capacity is used – stood at 86.8 per cent. This marks a slight improvement of 0.2 percentage points and represents the highest seat occupancy rate recorded so far this year.

MIA's summer traffic guidance

The United Kingdom remained Malta’s largest passenger market, contributing 22.4 per cent of total traffic. It was followed closely by Italy at 20.2 per cent, with Germany (7.4 per cent), Poland (7.0 per cent), and France (6.7 per cent) completing the top five markets.

In light of the high passenger volumes, MIA has urged travellers to plan ahead by consulting its summer traffic guidance.
