Malta-based Multigas Ltd on Saturday announced the passing of CEO Michael Mifsud, who died on Friday, just a few days after his 60th birthday.
The company expressed its condolences to his wife and family during this difficult time.
He led Multigas as CEO between 2009 and 2023, and throughout his time at the company, Ing Mifsud focused on consolidating its credentials by strongly encouraging employee empowerment and development.
Ing Mifsud had just taken up the role as Board Director this year.
Prior to his latest role, he had occupied senior management positions at two globalised multinational companies, namely Dowty (now Trelleborg) and Carlo Gavazzi. He was a Chamber of Engineers member, and held a seat on the Board of the European Industrial Gases Association (EIGA) and served as Deputy President of the Malta Employers’ Association.
The news of his passing was met with a flurry of comments and posts on social media expressing their condolences, with many stating that he was a great boss and a dear friend.
Daniel Abela, Redorange CEO, Marketing Advisory Services Managing Director, and a close friend of Ing Mifsud, remarked that he was the “perfect definition of a true gentleman,” who always found time for everyone and everything. “My world is once again shaken. I will never understand why the good die young, so until we meet again my dear friend, I ask you to keep a watchful eye over me, not that I need to ask, you always did anyways,” he added.
Norman Mifsud, Chief Officer of Corporate Services at MAPFRE MSV Life and Ing Mifsud’s cousin, recalled their childhood together, adding that he was always the “charismatic role model” he looked up to. “You were a person who lit up a room when you walked in, and who had a kind and gentle word for every person you encountered,” he added.
Ing Mifsud’s funeral will be held on Wednesday 31st January at 9.30am at the Divine Mercy Church in Naxxar.
