Behind every polished surface and pristine space lies a team whose work often goes unseen – but at Hi-Care Services, that work carries a deeper purpose. As demand grows and the team expands, the company is not only raising standards in professional cleaning, but also redefining what service truly means. As Hi-Care’s Cleaning Department Manager explains, the team’s commitment extends far beyond routine tasks – supporting clients, restoring spaces, and stepping in when Malta’s communities need them most.

Under the leadership of Director and Founder Aleksandar Marinkovic, Hi-Care has made significant strides since its establishment in 2019. Initially founded as a cleaning company, it quickly broadened its scope during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, when a shortage of carers created urgent demand across the healthcare sector. In response, Hi-Care expanded its services to supply qualified carers to elderly homes and Saint James’ Hospital.

Despite this diversification, the company has remained firmly rooted in its origins. Its cleaning division has continued to grow steadily, driven by increasing demand for professional services across residential, commercial and hospitality sectors. Over the past year in particular, it has become one of the fastest-growing areas of the business, now comprising a team of 25 trained professionals operating nationwide.

As the team expands, its Manager emphasises the importance of strong communication in maintaining Hi-Care’s high standards. “It’s not an individual activity,” he says. “Each of us has a different role to play, and we need to communicate effectively to get the job done. I’m always thinking a step ahead to make sure we have the tools and the manpower we need.”

That forward-thinking approach is reflected in the company’s investment in equipment. From industrial vacuum systems to power washers, sweepers and extendable window-cleaning tools, the team is equipped to handle a wide range of environments. This is particularly important in one of the fastest-growing segments of the business: post-construction cleaning.

With Malta’s construction industry continuing to expand, Hi-Care plays a key role in ensuring new spaces are ready for use once works are complete. These sites, however, present specific challenges. While efficiency remains a priority, safety is paramount. “We provide training for our cleaners for this reason,” the Department Manager explains. “This includes the responsible use of chemicals, and we also have supervisors on site to ensure our standards are consistently met.”

As demonstrated during its expansion into care services, Hi-Care is equally driven by a strong sense of social responsibility. This is reflected in the work of its cleaning team, which has supported individuals facing difficult circumstances. In one recent instance, the team helped restore a block of flats damaged by the smoke and ash of a nearby fire. Beyond the physical clean-up, the impact was also emotional for the residents. “They really appreciated the help,” the Manager recalls. “It wasn’t just about cleaning – it was about being there for them as people.”

A similar situation arose earlier this year, when the team assisted a homeowner whose property had been severely affected by Storm Harry. Facing both material damage and emotional strain, the client was able to begin again after the team completed their work. “When we arrived the scene looked like a small coastal disaster,” he says. “It was such a relief for her to see her home restored. What had looked like a chaotic and flooded space was once again a clean, organised and welcoming home. That gives us immense satisfaction – knowing we’ve helped someone move forward.”

Looking ahead, the cleaning division shows no signs of slowing down. With plans to grow the team to 30 in the near future, Hi-Care is well positioned to meet rising demand, particularly in a market driven by ongoing construction, as well as a thriving hospitality sector.

Ultimately, what sets Hi-Care Services apart is not just the scale of its growth, but the mindset behind it. As the team continue to expand, their focus remains on delivering a service that is as human as it is professional – one that recognises the trust clients place in them, often at vulnerable moments. Whether preparing a space for its first occupants or helping individuals recover in the aftermath of unexpected events, Hi-Care’s approach shows how attention to detail, empathy and teamwork can elevate cleaning into something far more meaningful.
