Vice President of the Socialists and Democrats for the European Green Deal in the European Parliament Dr Miriam Dalli has spoken out about the need for policies relating to remote work in a recent social media post. 

“Not all jobs require daily commuting to be carried out,” she writes, highlighting remote working’s place in today’s fast paced lifestyle, saying that “it can provide increased flexibility, increased efficiency, less traffic congestion and improved air quality.”

Drawing on many companies’ experience of remote working over recent months due to COVID-19 restrictions, Dr Dalli calls for strong policies to be put in place to ensure flexibility and efficiency, affirming that “these past months have shown that remote working can work and we should work hard to support those companies that promote #teleworking whilst safeguarding workers’ rights.”
