MCAST’s Institute of Business Management and Commerce (IBMC) building has officially been inaugurated as the Lewis Victor Farrugia Building, as an enduring tribute to the Founding Father of Simonds Farsons Cisk.

The inauguration took place earlier this year, and was attended by Farsons Group Chairman Louis Farrugia, who is the Founder’s son.

Discussing the new facility on social media, Farsons commented that by naming different college buildings, the MCAST Board of Governors is aiming to build links between members of the local industry who have made a difference in their respective arenas, and the students themselves.

Lewis Victor Farrugia is described as “one of the leading pioneers within the Maltese industrial arena.”

He brought L Farrugia & Sons (one of the companies that later merged to create Simonds Farsons Cisk) into the brewing industry in the late 1920s and served at its helm till his untimely death in 1956, only four years after it introduced soft drink Kinnie.
