The Royal Malta Yacht Club is setting sail under new leadership as Mark Napier steps into the role of Commodore, following the departure of David Cremona. The transition was confirmed after last week’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), where Mr Napier - who had secured the second-highest votes in last year’s election - was officially voted in by the Committee.

Mr Cremona, who led the club with dedication, will remain on board as Vice Commodore, ensuring continuity and support for the club’s new leadership. Also joining the executive team is Amata Camilleri, who has been appointed Honorary Secretary.

The AGM also introduced fresh faces to the Committee, with Aaron Gatt Floridia and Simon Xuereb stepping in as new members.

A New Leadership Structure

The election process follows a revised structure introduced in the 2024 AGM. Under this system, the top three elected Committee members now serve for three years, the next three for two years, and the lowest three for one year - ensuring both stability and a dynamic rotation of leadership.

The Royal Malta Yacht Club expressed its gratitude to outgoing Commodore David Cremona and Committee members James Villette and Edgar Warrington for their valuable contributions.
