Ta’ Betta Wine Estates has appointed Marie Choquet, better known as a wedding organiser, as its new General Manager.

The Siggiewi-based winery is set to benefit from Ms Choquet’s close to two decades of experience in project management and event planning, including over four and a half years with Liberty International Malta, of which a year and eight months were spent as the firm’s Managing Director, and over 14 years as a freelance wedding planner operating as Once Upon A Wedding.

Taking to LinkedIn to announce her promotion, Ms Choquet thanked Astrid and Juanito Camilleri, the owners of the estates, for the opportunity.

She also expressed gratitude to her colleagues for sharing their knowledge since her first day on the job.

“I cannot wait to see where my team and I will take this unique wine paradise and to give it all the glory it rightly deserves,” she said.

Since joining Ta’ Betta Wine Estates back in July 2020, at the height of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, Ms Choquet has stated that work “doesn’t feel like an obligation anymore, but more like a part of [my] own personal self development.”

In a post from six months ago, she said that “it has been over one year and a half now that I began to start the day with a huge smile on my face”.

“Who would have known that this complete change of career would bring me so much joy!”

In the post announcing her appointment as General Manager, Ms Choquet encouraged others to follow their hearts: “It is never too late to take a leap of faith and to embark on an entirely new journey!”

Despite its humble beginnings, Ta' Betta has grown into a recognised producer with one of the most beautiful estates on the islands.
