Malta Enterprise, the state economic development agency, has released two detailed lists of the companies which fall into the added wage subsidy of €800 a month for each worker, and which will fall under the reduced one-day-per week subsidy.

Prime Minister Robert Abela last night announced that companies in a list of industries viewed to be critically impacted will benefit from the €800 monthly salary. For those earning more than that, the employer can bridge up to a maximum of €400, so that workers may receive a maximum of €1,200.

Malta Enterprise released two lists, Annex A – referring to companies benefitting from the full five-day week government wage payment at €800 per month; and Annex B – for those companies in sectors that will benefit from a one-day-per week government wage subsidy, based on a monthly €800 wage.

Incentives also apply to self-employed and part-time workers.

Dr Abela stressed that the sectors listen in the critical industry were hardest hit, such as hotels, restaurants and retail outlets that were forced to shut to combat the spread of COVID-19.
