Lufthansa Technik Malta on Sunday celebrated its 20-year anniversary from when it started to operate on the island.
Founded in 2002, the maintenance, repair and overhaul company began operations in 2003 as a joint venture between Lufthansa Technik (92 per cent) and Air Malta (eight per cent).
The company is based at Malta International Airport and offers a wide range of maintenance, repair and overhaul services. Indeed, LTM is considered to be an Airbus Overhaul specialist within Lufthansa Technik’s network.
Since it’s launch, LTM’s spectrum of services has grown to encompass extensive airframe maintenance, and more recently, the first Innovation Bay was established at LTM.
The project focuses on reviewing state-of-the-art technologies for aircraft overhauls in the near future – from drone-based inspections of the aircraft skin to mobile 3D scanners to exoskeletons.
The company has been a source of meaningful employment for several Malta-based aviation experts and engineers throughout the past two decades, earning it a solid reputation on the island.
It is led by CEO John Mahon, who has been working in the aviation industry and with Lufthansa for around 30 years. He was named CEO of LTM in 2020.
