Percius Car Hire has announced the passing of 99-year-old Margherita Fenech, widow of company founder Lewis Fenech.

Posting to social media, the family-run company said she passed away “peacefully comforted by the rites of the Holy Church”.

Her funeral will take place on Saturday, 13th March. The internment will take place at Lija Cemetery.

The family has asked that rather than flowers, mourners make donations to Puttinu Cares.

Ms Fenech leaves behind a large family, including two great-grandchildren.

Percius Car Hire was founded more than 90 years ago by Lewis Fenech. Since then, it observes it has seen its business change dramatically.

At its founding, it observed its main clients were the village doctor, the parish priest and the aristocrats. With the coming of war, the British Services became a key client. In 1940 the Law Courts were moved to Balzan and law practitioners were added to the company’s list of clients.
