KM Malta Airlines has earned top marks in London Heathrow Airport’s Fly Quieter and Greener league table for the second quarter of 2025, outperforming 49 other major carriers in environmental and operational performance.
The league table, published quarterly by Heathrow Airport, ranks the 50 busiest airlines based on the number of flights to and from Heathrow against nine environmental and operational metrics.
These include noise emissions, NOₓ emissions, adherence to continuous descent approaches (CDA) and punctuality, among others.
According to Heathrow, KM Malta Airlines achieved the highest cumulative score for Q2 2025, followed closely by Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) and Aer Lingus.
The ranking reflects the impact of KM Malta Airlines’ use of a modern Airbus A320neo fleet, which is quieter and more fuel-efficient than older aircraft models.
The Fly Quieter and Greener programme is part of Heathrow’s broader Noise Action Plan, which aims to encourage airlines to reduce environmental impact through improved operational practices and fleet choices. By publicly ranking performance, the initiative highlights best practices in noise and emissions management at one of the world’s busiest airports.
The recognition follows another two milestones for KM Malta Airlines earlier this year, after it was recognised for having one of the world’s youngest aircraft fleets by ch-aviation.
