Echoing a sentiment that continues to emerge as workers around the world discovered the value of flexibility at work thanks to remote working, Melissa Manthos, Head of Marketing at local digital marketing agency Switch – Digital & Brand, shared her daunting experience of organising major home works and moving home while keeping up with her role.
Sharing what her ‘home office’ looked like during the challenging two months in which she and her partner had to complete the works and move, Ms Manthos shows two camping chairs and a make-shift desk, with a mobile hotspot for an internet connection.
“My partner and I went through house works AND [a] move in two months, and it was probably one of the most stressful times in my life.
“My days were split into my day job and housework, nothing else. An ordinary day included handling a client campaign launch, painting the flat, working on a pitch, fixing a water pipe - in no particular order.
“We didn't think we'd make the deadline, and most people around us didn't either, but we did it.”
Ms Manthos thanked the flexibility awarded to her at Switch, commenting:
“Not being restricted to clocking in at 9am and out at 6pm meant that I could work my own hours, and fit all house chores that were needed in between meetings and tasks.”
She further thanked her colleagues at the company, expressing gratitude and quipping that they would move mountains to help a colleague.
