On Wednesday (today), Arthur & Sons Bakery & Confectionery, better known in the Birzebbuga community as Ta’ Turu, announced that it will be closing its doors after 40 years of service.

“We will always be grateful for the years we shared with our loyal customers, many of whom remember us opening the bakery. We would like to sincerely thank you for believing in our products and in our service,” brothers Charles, Simon and Mark wrote.

The family business thanked all those who worked closely throughout the years and loyal employees who will always be part of its journey.

“Most of all, we thank the Founder of Arthur & Sons Bakery, our dad Arthur Micallef. Back in 1974 he envisioned opening a business that would keep us, his three sons, close to each other,” they remarked.

Throughout the years, the three brothers worked together tirelessly, fulfilling their father's dream, "honouring and upholding his legacy."

They noted that thanks to their father’s vision, for the past 40 years Charles, Simon and Mark have worked and raised three families together.

“Now that all our children have grown up and have chosen different paths, we have decided that it is time to say goodbye,” concluded the three brothers as they thanked their customers once more.

Many people from the community took the time to thank them for years of genuine service, helping organisations within the community and highlighted that today they form part of the locality’s history.

Others found themselves at a loss for words but despite this wished them lots of rest and a serene future ahead.

“We will miss you,” many wrote.
