Frank Fabri has been appointed Chief Executive of Acquatic Resources Malta, a newly formed entity established last November.
Through the entity, research productions and innovation within the fisheries and acquaculture industry are being developed with an investment of over €10 million.
Dr Fabri graduated in education and holds a doctorate in management. He has garnered 15 years of experience in management and administrative roles, having held various positions including that of Director and Director General.
In 2022, Dr Fabri resigned from his role as Permanent Secretary within the Education Ministry following the resignation of former Minister Justyne Caruana. The resignations were a result of a revealed €15,000 contract awared by Justyne Caruana to her close friend, which Dr Fabri had signed off on.
For the past year, Dr Fabri has served as General Manager at the new ITS Training School in Valletta.
Commenting on his appointment, Parliament Secretary for Fisheries, Acquaculture and Animal Rights, Alicia Bugeja Said, stated that he has vast experience in project implementation.
She added that the Acquatic Resources Malta plays “a crucial role” in the growth of the blue economy in Malta and also offers employment opportunities for youths wishing to specialise in maritime sciences.
