Karl Vella, an international environmental lawyer based in Geneva, will join a panel of judges, bringing together experts from across the energy sector, for the first ever RE100 Leadership Awards 2020.

The awards aim to recognise the leadership of RE100 companies in accelerating the transition to 100 per cent renewable electricity.

Dr Vella, Climate Policy Manager at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, commented on the appointment. “I’m delighted to be on the judging panel for the first ever RE100 Leadership Awards which celebrate RE100 companies that are leading the transition to 100% renewable electricity.”

Launched by The Climate Group, the event will showcase the companies whose ambitions and achievements “go above and beyond the minimum requirements of RE100 and inspire others to do the same – driving an even faster shift to 100% renewable electricity.”

Over 230 of the world’s most influential companies, including Apple, Ikea and ebay, have joined the RE100 initiative, and made the ambitious global commitment to 100 per cent renewable power.
