Classic Design Woodworks Director Sammy Ellul on Wednesday remarked that the Wage Supplement scheme and stable electricity prices were vital for the company throughout the pandemic.
Mr Ellul added that during the last six years, the company’s workload has increased rapidly, and so he opted to expand his business, both in terms of infrastructure by leaving the old facility in Marsa for the new one in the Bulebel industrial zone, and also human resources.
His comments came during a visit by Prime Minister Robert Abela to Classic Design Woodworks’ new factory in Bulebel.

The new factory came after an investment of €1.2 million, and it allows the company to make use of higher quality machinery and technology, while also having a nicer and safer work environment for employees.
“During the pandemic we were determined to continue working and this is thanks to the support we received from the Government, including the Wage Supplement, that helped Classic Design Woodworks dampen the impact the pandemic had on its operations,” Mr Ellul said.
The scheme allowed the furniture manufacturing company to continue investing over the course of the pandemic, expanding its operations after being well established in the local industry after its founding by the Ellul family more than 20 years ago.
Dr Abela praised the resilience and willingness of Mr Ellul, who went from being a self-employed worker to Director of a company that now has 14 employees.
