Dr Marilyn Casha, wife of the late Dr Aaron Casha who died last week with complications that arose from COVID-19, has been nominated for the European Citizen’s Prize.
An anaesthetics and pain management consultant, Dr Casha was nominated to receive the award on behalf of all Maltese frontliners battling the virus. She was nominated by Peter Agius, a former head of the European Parliament Office.
“They risk their lives to protect us. These are the heroes of our times. I have nominated Dr Marilyn Casha, wife of the late Aaron Casha, for the prestigious European Citizen’s Prize on behalf of all medical professionals and frontliners fighting Covid-19,” he wrote.
“Nurses, doctors, care workers, pharmacists and members of the health department all deserve our utmost gratitude as a nation.”
Since 2008, the European Citizen's Prize has recognized projects and initiatives that promote EU values, and this year, citizens and organisations are encouraged to nominate projects and, for the first time citizens, dealing with the fight against coronavirus.
