Dermon Gatt has been appointed General Manager – International Business & Retail at Salvo Grima Group, the group announced on Monday.

“Salvo Grima Group is proud of its winning team of professionals at all levels, many of whom are building international careers whilst expanding the business and mentoring their colleagues,” it said.

In his new role, Mr Gatt will be tasked with overseeing the group’s travel retail and duty-free operations in Malta, Cyprus, and Tunisia, together with other projects.

The group proceeded to congratulate him on the achievement and wished him “the best of luck and success” in his new position.

Mr Gatt has worked at Salvo Grima Group for the past seven years, having initially joined as Purchasing Assistant in 2016. He worked in various other sales and commercial-related positions at the group, and prior to his new role, he was Senior Commercial Manager for seven months.

Aside from his time at the group, he was also a Real Estate Agent at QuickLets and a freelance Translator and Proofreader.

Mr Gatt holds a Master of Business Administration from University of Birmingham, as well as a Master’s degree in Translation & Terminology Studies and Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and Maltese, both from University of Malta.

With roots dating back to 1860, Salvo Grima Group is a wholesale distribution company that now operates in seven countries in Europe and Africa and employs over 230 staff.
