Corinthia Group has announced that its founder and Chairman, Alfred Pisani, has been nominated for the prestigious Hotelier of the World Award 2020 by HOTELS magazine.

Now in its 40th year, nominees for the award will feature in the April edition, while the winner is then announced and profiled in November.

While awards from different categories are given each year, nominees are broadly recognised for how they have defined standards of service, operational excellence and performance, creativity in management and what they have done for the greater good of the global hotel business.

HOTELS is a B2B media brand covering the global hotel industry. Its print and online readers vote for nominees in both the corporate and independent hotelier categories. It is published by MTG Media Group in Chicago.

Mr Pisani is a household name in Malta, known for founding the first Corinthia in Attard in 1968, and building up the company which today boasts nine properties within its portfolio.

While Corinthia Group, like others in the hotel industry, is suffering through massive COVID19 related disruptions, last week it announced that thanks to cost cutting measures, aid from the countries it is present in and robust finances, it is able to pay wages and meet payment obligations throughout 2020.
