The Water Services Corporation was set up in 1992 to produce and distribute potable water in the Maltese islands. It is responsible for the complete water cycle, from the production and distribution of potable water to the collection and treatment of wastewater.

Within these remits, the Corporation produces drinking water – which is fully compliant with all EU quality requirements – through its reverse osmosis plants and groundwater facilities and distributes it throughout the Maltese islands.

It also manages the country’s sewage network and produces and distributes New Water, which is highly polished reclaimed water for the agriculture and other sectors.

The Water Services Corporation is currently engaged in major projects to continue improving the quality of potable water and to expand its New Water network, amongst others.
